Well
well well?the first edition of AGS seemed to be a real hit!
Our database of email addresses has quadrupled in the first month. If we keep this going guys we will have a very powerful newsletter that will assist us in lobbying the whole goddam world!
Whats new in April.
Hmmmm
We
have some news of our own! We launched the official Any Given Sunday
bumper sticker on Saturday 24th March and the following retailers
are stocking the stickers:
Manly
Blades (02)9976
3833
Bondi
Boards & Blades (02)9369 2212
Alive!
SK8 (02)4646
1055
Thanks
to Bill, Adam and Adam / Brendan for supporting this initiative from the
beginning.
We will be
running a monthly competition (like the radio stations do) where you can win
great prizes by sending a photo of you or one of your mates doing something
insane. The catch is that there must be an Any Given Sunday bumper
sticker in the pic. I don?t care where you stick it! Just try and avoid getting
in any shit about it. Email me your pic and we will decide on a winner each
month.
We
will give you all a month to get your bums into gear and buy a sticker and then
we will start accepting your entries.
The prize for Aprils pic
will be a copy of the new USD Australian Team Video and a cool USD Lanyard.
(news from the Ed?since
typing the above, I have received the following confirmations: Mays prize will
be a copy of VG19 + a Senate Lanyard and Junes prize will be a $40 online
voucher at www.manlyblades.com.au
?sweet?thanx y?all)
How
good is that huh? Just go to your local shop and tell them you want to buy an ?Any
Given Sunday? bumper sticker. If they don?t have a clue what you are
talking about?..tell them to email me quick smart so I can get them some. In
fact tell all your mates to go in and ask for a sticker so they get the
picture?..and while your in there check out the latest skates and work out how
much you have to start saving to upgrade.
Oh
yeah and by the way if we happen to see you at a comp or a skate park or out
street skating and you have a bumper sticker on your car or stuck to your head
or somewhere else for that matter?..don?t be too surprised if we walk up to you
and give you something for free?.coz we are just that kind of people!
In
saying all this?.I can?t forget to thank all the distributors who are happy to
give me stuff for these promos. I?m not going to mention their names to protect
their privacy but they know who they are?..CHEERS.
(ps VG19 has
landed?go buy it NOW! from your local shop so you don?t miss out. We will have
one to give away as our next prize?just watch!)
The
Ground Control frames are in, I held one in my hot little hand the other day,
so if you want a set of those you better hurry! Speaking of frames make sure
you have a look at the range that Kizer has out at the moment?there are some
really sick camouflage colours.
Sorry to see
Action Inline at Manly closed its doors this month?.shit happens. Don?t know
why it happened but it happened so see ya later and good luck??speaking of
shops?..

Congrats to
Adam and Brendan who are about to celebrate their 1st Year as the
proud owners of Bondi Boards and Blades. Well done guys?.keep up the good work.
We have made available some cool
car decals with our slogan:
turn
your back on the world
looks just like this but is 70cm wide by 7cm high in white lettering. If you want one, get your skate shop to order one from us. They will be $25 each.
We have also been throwing out
miniature versions of the ?turn your back on the world sticker? so
keep your eyes out!
A lot of people ask us
what 18Zero means and why we have the slogan:
?turn
your back on the world?.
(ok well Iain
Smiths girlfriend did anyway)
Here is the explanation:
(pronounced ?one eight zero? not ?eighteen zero?)
from the latin meaning ?perform a 180 degree turn?
and when you perfom a 180 degree turn you are in fact??turning your back on the world.
A
big cheerio to the crew down at Albury skate park who we visited over Easter.
Great little skate park with a vert ramp next door. I took a couple of great
pics of Ben Beeching on the vert ramp?thanx Ben I will send them to www.rollerblading.com.au for
posting.
Hey
have you all been watching the new series of Planet-X?.12:30pm Sats on channel
7. If you haven?t then you have missed a bit of blading.
That?s
right?pick yourselves up off the floor?the folks at Planet-X have been giving
Inline a fair shot and we saw the whole opening segment on last Saturdays show
dedicated to the finals of the street comp. Well done guys we appreciate the
fact you are giving us some coverage?now we just have to convince the editor of
your little magazine which no rollerbladers normally pick up!
(that was my controversial
statement for the month. This newsletter goes to a few people at Planet-X and I
luv youze all, but we really have to get together and do lunch so we can talk
about blading. When will Mr Bray and Mel be free Tracey?you slave driver you)
Speaking
of Planet-X, they were successful in obtaining the go ahead for the new
Government initiative which has been sponsored by 1800 Reverse and is known as:
Im
not going to try and tell you all about it but you should definitely have a look
at www.streetactive.org . We all
need to support this initiative by the government to promote and support street
sports so get you bums behind it all the way. Check the website as soon as you
have finished reading this. 18Zero is in full support of the Street Active
programme!

And yes we sadly the saw
the 3rd and final ?Inline Anarchy? event for the 2001 Series at
Alive! SK8 Narellan 2 weeks ago. This was the ?Team Event? and saw some great
skating from a lot of different people.
Noticeable efforts were
Tom Sampson, Iain Smith, Dean Foldi, Brock Midgley and the Serial Killer (he
knows who he is).
One of the highlights of
the day was when young Kieran Deans, the 16 y/o member of the Alive! SK8 Team
2002 decided he would launch himself out of the park by going straight off one
of the quarters, over the heads of the judges, clipped his skate on the fence
and ended up landing in the car park!
The crowd went wild and we
were all very happy to see him roll away safely, however it wasn?t enough for
his team who placed 3rd in the comp. 2nd Placed team was
Tom Sampson, Luke Savill and Luke Bennett with the outright winners being the
team of Dean Foldi, Brock Midgley and Adam Diakowsky.
Im sure the boys at Alive!
SK8 would like to thank all of the sponsors for a great series.
Roces, Pepsi Max, Salomon,
18Zero, JC Skaters, Powerful Son and Rollerblading.com.au.
Make sure you be part of
it next time!
