October 2001 - the Roller Sports Australia Championships was contested at the Dunc Gray (Olympic) Velodrome, Bass Hill from 29th September-6th October 2001.

August 2001 - Australia's first Medal at a World Meet for Roller Dance
Penrith couple Esther Ambrus and Gawaine Davis won Australia's first Medal in Roller Dance at a World Meet, at the 6th World Games in Akita, Japan.

The Couple ranked tenth in the World, placed 2nd to the reigning World Champions Adam White and Melissa Quinn from the USA. Couples from South American and Europe also competed in this event, with a total of 40 Artistic Skaters (Men's Freestyle, Ladies Freestyle, Pairs Freestyle, and Dance) from 10 Nations, involved in this invitational World Competition.

This result considerably boosted Ambrus and Davis's ranking going into the World Artistic Roller Skating Championships held in Florence, Italy (12th-25th November 2001).
