2001 Nationals - (parts of article from Roller Sports Australia)

The 2001 Roller Sports Australia National Championships for Speed and Artistic was held at the Dunc Gray Velodrome in Bass Hill, Sydney NSW from September 30th to October 6th.
A speed track is located just outside the building. Click here for more details on Speed.

       THE FLOOR

There had been a lot of discussion regarding the surface at Dunc Gray, in fact the board viewed the site at the 2001 NSW State Championship and agreed unanimously that the concrete surface was not suitable for a national championships.

In order to ensure a quality surface for the competitors, the skating surface was the QFRS wooden floor from Homebush (used at a previous national championships) laid on top of the concrete surface.

The floor size was approximately 50m x 25m (International size recommended for world championships) and had no barriers.
