A number of veteran rollerbladers have returned to the game and are regularly posting videos and photos, with one of the most active being Mick Smith.

Mick has now launched a campaign on GoPetition to resurface Vermont Vert Ramp and construct a play area for children.

Here is what Mick had to say about the petition:

“Vermont Vert Ramp has been around for a very long time and has seen some weather damage over the years.

“This ramp has seen the likes of many professional inline and skateboarders in the past.

“This ramp is still being used to this day by myself and many others. A re-surface of this ramp would be very beneficial and will attract more people.

“We also ask for a play equipment area to be built near the ramp and rubbish bins to be placed around the area.

“We the undersigned are asking the City of Whitehorse Council to re-surface the Vermont Skate Ramp and to build a play equipment area as well as rubbish bins to be placed in the venue.”

Located in between Melbourne and Geelong at the corner of Walkers and Station Lake roads, Lara, the park looks pretty tidy and well worth the drive.

As always, the pair make it look easy.

Quick clips with the VC team at Guangzhou in China – the biggest skate park in the world

Oliver Czaja

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxLw8TSIkGY”][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]While in China for the FISE last year, the VC Clothing team stopped off at Guangzhou Skatepark, officially the world’s largest at 17,000 sqm.

The park hadn’t officially opened yet, but Ollie Czaja, Pascal MR, Alex Lipohar and Gerard Ahrens managed to scale the fence and still get in some solid rolling.

Here is what Gerard had to say: “They had security guards there and all the gates where locked. So we jumped the fence to skate the larger park with all the big bowls.

“Soon after the security came running yelling at us in chinese to get out of the park. So we spent the day jumping the fences and playing cat and mouse with security all day until they let us skate the plaza for a hour.”

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a9tkQK7pjk”][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Velvet Couch Clothing is on fire with the edits this week, with another killer section featuring Luke Stonebanks filmed at RampAttak Skate Park in Brisbane.

Shredding hard at Brisbane’s leading indoor skate park (which recently underwent a great upgrade), it’s like Luke is on a mission to show us he can do everything both ways!

Accomplishing more in 1 minute, 11 seconds than most will achieve in a lifetime, the edit leaves you wondering why we don’t see more of this talented Queenslander.

Three awesome new Brisbane skate parks on the way: Bracken Ridge, Ashgrove and Groverly

Paddington

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_image src=”http://www.rollerblading.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/inala.jpg” image_width=”800″ image_height=”450″ crop=”false” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” target=”_self” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”left” margin_bottom=”25″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]With major updates to Paddington and Inala skate parks already underway, the Queensland Government has announced three brand new Brisbane facilities through the Get Playing Plus fund.

Fitzgibbon District Park at Bracken Ridge, Dorrington Park at Ashgrove and Fihelly Street Park at Grovely will all receive brand new parks.

Sport and Racing Minister Bill Byrne said the Queensland Government had committed $1.5 million in funding to Brisbane City Council, subject to approvals, for new and upgraded skating facilities.

“We’re looking forward to working with the Brisbane City Council to make this project a reality and deliver greater participation in sport and recreation at the grassroots level,” Minister Byrne said.

The skate park projects are a part of the Queensland Government’s Get Playing Plus, a component of Get in the Game, that provides funding contributions for new or existing infrastructure development projects from $300,000 to a maximum of $1.5 million.

“Our goal is to ensure more Queenslanders are getting outdoors, staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with clubs, organisations, local councils and government to help improve facilities for members and the local community.”

Brisbane’s rollerblading scene is booming: Amazing shots from Wednesday RampAttak sessions

Nat Rawlings

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_image src=”http://www.rollerblading.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Nat-Rawlings.jpg” image_width=”1200″ image_height=”800″ crop=”true” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” target=”_self” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”left” margin_bottom=”25″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]4Sqair Australia’s Nat Rawlings gives rollerblading.com.au the rundown on Brisbane blading scene’s Wednesday night sessions at RampAttak indoor skate park.

Brisbane Rollerbladers started organically as a Facebook group, where members can post anything rollerblading-related. It is used mostly for local content like potential new spots to skate, skate parks, photos and edits, or even just to say “Hey, I’m rolling tomorrow, who’s keen?”.

It was through the Brisbane Rollerbladers facebook group that the Wednesday night RampAttak sessions first started and popularity continues to grow. Mostly headed by Luke Stonebanks, it has turned into a great mid-week roll for those that don’t get the chance to roll on the weekends. The vibe is ‘all are welcome’, and on any given night anyone from beginners, to some of Brisbane’s best, are likely to show up.

It is a sizable indoor skate park with almost everything you need for a well-rounded roll. Covered in plywood, Ramp Attack is smooth and much more forgiving than concrete. There is always someone up for a game of B.L.A.D.E. or doing some filming, whether it is professional or just using an iPhone.[/vc_column_text][mk_image_slideshow images=”8470,8472,8473″ image_width=”1200″ image_height=”800″ effect=”fade” animation_speed=”700″ slideshow_speed=”7000″ pause_on_hover=”false” smooth_height=”true” direction_nav=”true”][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]RampAttak, located at 393 Bilsen Rd, Geebung, is worth traveling the extra mile. It is accessible by train (Sunshine Station) and the Wednesday night session goes from 6pm till 9pm. If you forget to bring a helmet they have some for hire.

Cost $13.50 or $11 for members, with helmet hire $5. Under 18s need to have a consent form filled out by their guardian before they can skate at Ramp Attack for the first time. For more information on RampAttak, see their official website.
