Nordic Walking / skating poles

Product review by James O'Connor

Having a background in skiing (downhill and cross-country) and snowboarding racing from a number of University Ski Championships I'm excited to review this great product for inline skaters. The Nordic walking poles are fully adjustable and specially designed to suit nordic walking and the novice to intermediate nordic skater up to 180cm height. Cross-country skiers will immmediately recognise the benefits of using poles whilst skating to provide a simulated cross-country skiing exercise which is great for the cardiovascular system. The provider Nordic Academy is a reputable company in Melbourne that Rollerblading.com.au is glad to support since they also offer courses and additional literature showing how to get the most out of your equipment.

Cross-country skiing is a sport which competent fitness and recreational inline skaters can pick up very quickly. Adding nordic walking poles to your fitness training regime allows you to get a great upper body workout in addition to the usual muscles used in rollerblading / inline skating.

The ONE WAY Traveller presented here is a 3-piece adjustable pole which compacts down to only 67 cms - making it the best choice for frequent travellers, bush walkers who prefer to only use poles on steep terrain and for kids as young as 8 years of age! The poles featured would suit someone with a height up to 180cm. Sign up to our mailing list (and send us an email if you wish) and we will let you know when we have advanced level equipment such as nordic skating training specialist skates available in Australia.

Features include:
* Ergonomically shaped natural cork grip for a better feel and greater sweat absorption
* Salomon licensed wrist strap for efficient and comfortable power transfer
* Aluminium alloy 3-piece adjustable shaft
* Durable steel tip
* Non-slip detachable rubber paw (removable when skating)

Whilst the clip below does not feature the poles discussed here it nevertheless shows how you might use poles whilst skating and how closely it resembles cross-country (Nordic) skiing.
