Salomon opens subsidiary in Australia
Salomon?s
mission is to provide cutting-edge, pure products for the sports that are based
on unrestricted sensation, style and adventure. This has come to be known as Freedom
Action Sports.
Over the past 28 years within the Australian market,
Salomon has become a leader in Skiing, Snowboarding and Inline Skating as well
as a being a strong player in the Outdoor Freeride market (X-mountain,
X-adventure and trail running).
For
the past 2 years Salomon has been conducting extensive R + D on surfing
equipment out of our Design Center in Perth, WA. This centre along with our
long-term commitment to the Salomon Masters at Margaret River (WQS 6 Star Prime)
will enable us to launch into the Water Sports market so we can cover all Freedom
Action Sports.
With
our current distribution contract coming to an end and the need of additional
marketing investments created by the new Salomon activities, Bursill Sports Gear
and Salomon have agreed not to renew their contract.
As
of January 1, 2003 Salomon will ?officially? commence operations in
Australia as a wholly owned subsidiary of adidas-Salomon AG. Our operations are
based in Melbourne along side other group members; adidas, Bonfire Snowboarding
and Taylor Made Golf, although we will have a completely independent company
within this structure we utilize some shared resources; HR, IT, Finance and
Warehousing.
Our
Senior Management Team is currently in place and is responsible for Salomon
and Bonfire.
Michel
Briswalter
? Managing Director ? Michel is also the Senior VP of Sales and Marketing
for Asia, Pacific and Latin America. He has 22 years experience running
operations for Salomon.
Alan
Daniel
? Business Administration Manager ? Alan has been currently working as the
Marketing Area Manager for Asia and Pacific regions. He has been with Salomon
for 2 ½ years.
Shannon
O'Brien ?
Sales and Marketing Manager ? Shannon has been currently working as the
Surfing Team Manager since August 2001, however he also worked several years ago
for Salomon in France for 2 ½ years as
Marketing Development Manager for
Snowboard Bindings.
Dave
Curtis ?
will board the Company as Business Unit Manager for Footwear ? Dave is the
current sales representative for Salomon footwear with Bursill Sports Gear. Dave
will conduct the Spring/Summer 2003 Footwear, Bags and Packs sell-in for the
Subsidiary July 22 through 26, 2002.
Bursill
Sports Gear
will continue their involvement with Salomon by being appointed the sales agency
for Salomon Snow Skis, Ski Boots, Ski Bindings and Inline Skates. This
company?s long history with these Salomon products will ensure their market
leadership.
All
products listed will be sold on behalf of Salomon Australia whom will also
deliver and invoice.
Other
positions we will need to have filled will be Business Unit Manager for Apparel
as well as the Salomon Customer Service Team.
