PRESS RELEASE: 11MAR2001

SPRITE PLANET X TRIALS
PATH TO GLORY FOR AUSSIE FREESTYLE TALENT
OnLine Sports Marketing (OSM), creator of the Xtreme Games, has formed an
alliance with long-time freestyle sport supporter Sprite and is proud to
announce the 2001 SPRITE PLANET X TRIALS.
In 2000, OSM launched Xtreme Xposed, Australia's
first national qualifying series for the Planet X Summer Xtreme Games.
Events were held across the country successfully uncovering new skateboard,
aggressive inline and freestyle BMX talent. Winners had the chance to
compete alongside the best in the world at the Planet X Xtreme Games in
Melbourne, December 2000.
This year, Xtreme Xposed becomes the Sprite
Planet X Trials, a national series of 27 events held in metropolitan and
regional areas in each state and territory. Skateboard, inline skate and
BMX - the three most popular freestyle or 'extreme' sports - are featured.
Events will focus on a particular discipline such as Street (skate, inline, BMX),
Vert Ramp/Halfpipe (skate, inline) or Dirt (BMX).
First and second place getters at each Sprite Planet X Trials event score a
place in the Eliminator round at the Planet X Summer Games in December, 2001
(dates & venue released soon). In addition, first place winners
receive $500 towards their travel and accommodation for the Games.
"These freestyle sports just keep getting bigger with more people involved
- whether it's in competition, skating with mates or watching them on TV and
reading the mags. We're really looking forward to another big year with
the series and expect to see some impressive new talent competing at the Planet
X Summer Games" says Damien Bray, OSM Director.
Sprite Brand Manager, Shane Grant says, " We're excited to be supporting
the Sprite Planet X Trials. For Sprite, it is about being involved at the
grass-roots with freestyle sport and boarding culture - uncovering new talent
and getting out there on the street".
The call for Sprite Planet X Trials entries commences Monday, March 12.
Interested competitors can check out event locations and enter online at
www.planetx.net.au.
Entries are open to all, on a first-come first-served basis. With only 30
entries per discipline per event, it is expected that places will fill up
quickly.
