Australia features in Michael Pedersen’s new video of his global travels

Michael Pederson

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/123294012″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Denmark’s Michael Pedersen has dropped an awesome edit of his global travels, beginning right here in Australia four years ago.

From wild adventures to serious injuries, a lot happened to Michael in his time on the road.

Here is what he had to say about the trip:

“Four years ago, I went on a airplane to Australia, right after the Danish rollerblading competition (PonyCup) and thats where my travels around the world started. After a couple of months in Australia I went back to Europe, stayed there for a while, before going to The United states of America.

“Later that year I had a terrible accident, falling head first 6m down, but i survived and two weeks later I was standing in South America, which was one of my best travel experience ever and the year after I went to South Africa. In between my travels I always went back to the lovely city of Copenhagen, but now I’m living in the South of Europe.

“So now, four years later, I’m back in Denmark, for the last PonyCup competition and ready with my video with rollerblading moves from all the continents around the world except Asia, but hopefully I’m going there later this year.

“I would like to say thanks to everybody who have inspired and helped me on the road. Either picking my up in cars and drive around and for letting me crash on your couches and for teaching me about life and for all the fun times. I couldn’t have done this without my amazing friends. I really appreciate it!”

Filmed in 5 continents: Europe, Australia, South Africa, South America and The United States of America.

Cities: Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Lima, Quito, Johannesburg, New York, Long Beach, Copenhagen, Roskilde, Skagen, Esbjerg, Aalborg, Aarhus, Nykøbing Falster, Eskilstuna, London, Berlin, Glasgow, Amsterdam and Lisbon.

Also thanks to everybody who have helped me filming: Tobias Nielsen, Phil Moss, Frederik Kofoed, JLyn Ortiz, Keith Hubbard, Nicholas Hart, Tien Nguyen, Shane Duck, Søren Winther, Henrik Jensen, Josh Nielsen, Emil Hansen, Lone Pedersen, David Grant, Ralf Monnerup, Simon Lind, Gregory Preston, Casper Cordua, Michael Rold, Fredrik Andersson, Daniel N Clausen, Neil van der Walt, Hugo Vermaak, Josh Glowicki, Fritz Peitzner, Harrison, Christian berg and Daniel Foss.

It’s a big coup for Arcena, with the Sydney-based star currently ranked No.1 in the world in competition skating.

With its feet in rollerblading, music and art, Arcena looks like it’s expanding strongly in 2015, with a growing “wolf pack” including not only skaters, but artists and music producers as well.

While the gear isn’t stocked in Australia yet, expect to see it Down Under soon through their new relationship with Wellsmore. The brand will also present at this year’s Winterclash trade show.

At the end of the day, Australia’s CJ Wellsmore added another impressive jewel to his already heavy crown, taking out top spot in the Pro Competition ahead of Julien Cudot (France), Dave Sizemore (USA) and Antony Pottier (Belgium).

It was his second win at The Blading Cup, after he took out the competition in 2012.

With most Australian skaters unable to make the trek over to the states for the comp (except Robbie Pitts – see if you can spot him in the edits below), we’ve put together all this year’s videos in one place, ensuring you relive all the action from halfway across the world.

Included are edits from One Blading Magazine, Daniel Scarano, Filthjuice and Eldente. If any fresh edits hit the streets, we’ll update this story to ensure you don’t have to look too hard.

Riding a wave of success after the release of his pro model skate on Seba late last year, Australia’s own CJ Wellsmore is the undisputed No.1 of the competition rollerblading scene in 2014 after another huge win against some of the world’s top skaters.

Created by rollerblading icon Jon Julio, The Blading Cup is regarded as one of the world’s premier competitions and features an epic course designed for and by bladers, with a big focus on the creativity and amplitude only our sport can achieve.

Here is what CJ Wellsmore had to say after the win on the day: “What an incredible feeling it is to win The Blading Cup! Today with the amazing atmosphere we had, Everyone put there body on the line to feel the beautiful joy that inline skating brings to all of us. Thankyou for all the support! Fucking love it.”

CJ took the top spot ahead of France’s Julien Cudot in second, the USA’s Dave Sizemore in third and Belgium’s Anthony Pottier in fourth. It was a great result for CJ’s boot sponsor SEBA, with their team riders taking out first and fourth.

Check out the first edit by Eldente below and stay tuned for more Blading Cup action as it comes through. Congratulations CJ!
