Created by extreme sports icon Travis Pastrana with Nitro Circus CEO and Creative Director Michael Porra, the Nitro World Games will feature events in freestyle motocross, BMX, skate, inline, scooter and more.

Rollerblading’s inclusion is a huge credit to the following that Chris Haffey and more recently, Wake Schepman, have built while on tour with the Nitro Circus Live tour worldwide.

Don’t expect any grinds, with the whole course focused on the launch ramps (see the course layout in the video below).

Either way, it will no doubt provide some seriously good viewing for both the stadium audience and primetime NBC audience in the USA.

“Action sports is about progression, pushing the envelope to go bigger, faster and farther than ever before,” said Pastrana.

“When it comes to competition, I expect to see the best of the best going head to head, attempting tricks no one has ever seen before. With the Nitro World Games, we wanted to create an event that raised the bar and took action sports to the next level.”

“This is a passion project for Travis and for myself as well. We have worked tirelessly for three years with one goal in mind: a total reinvention of action sports competition. This is absolutely essential for the industry’s growth,” said Porra.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpquMRQRFv0″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]OFFICIAL NITRO WORLD GAMES 2016 INFORMATION

The Nitro World Games will host some of the world’s biggest stars and the most accomplished athletes in action sports. It will also feature new disciplines, formats, tricks and all new ramps along with a Nitro-invented live scoring system ensuring fans can engage with the competition during the Games. Each event will be a final round with everything on the line.

Riders will attempt awe-inspiring — and in many cases brand new — tricks. Independent and legendary veterans of each discipline will judge the fierce competition with pre-agreed degree of difficulty for every trick, ensuring the fairest and easiest to understand scoring system.

It’s the one time of year we can all count on to see each other, catch up for a roll and witness a whole new level of rollerblading.

After a smashing 2014 edition at The Park in Geelong, this year, ARO is taking place in the national’s capital, Canberra.

Event categories include Open Street, Old School (30+), Under-18s, Under-14s and Girls.

The competition currently has approval to run at Woden Skate Park, but after some discussion with the locals the competition may move to Tuggeranong Skate Park so a vert category can be included.

UPDATE: ARO 2015 moves to Tuggeranong Skate Park

Either way, after Rhys Bell and Tristan Richards blitzed ARO 2014 in both the Open Street and Mini Mega categories respectively, the locals are going to be very tough to beat.

Rollerblading.com.au will make sure to keep you updated with any movements as they happen.

For now, start booking those flights and RSVP on Facebook.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkaDAT6PROw”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The Box Game returns to St Kilda foreshore to celebrate 5 years of Melbourne Rollerblading

The Box Game

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLEgPaEYqrQ”][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]After a hugely successful launch back in 2012 (see the video above), The Box Game returns for its 2015 edition on Saturday, October 10.

Presented by Melbourne Rollerblading to celebrate their fifth birthday, The Box Game will see some of Victoria’s best rollers throw down for box supremacy with cash and prizes on offer for those who have what it takes.

Rock up from 4pm for the warm-up before a 5pm start. Entry is $5 if you’re planning on skating or free for those who just want to watch.

GAME RULES:
Highest score wins.
Your score is the sum of your five highest scoring trickster .
Only tricks that are held for the length of the box will be counted towards your score.

TRICKS ARE SCORED AS FOLLOWS:
1 point for the grind
1 point for each additional element of the grind, e.g. topside, backside, alleyoop, truespin, negative
No extra points for coming out fakie or rewind out
1 point for a 270 or 360 out
2 points for a 450 or 540 out
1 point for a half cab and
1 point for a fullcab (which implies you’re doing an alleyoop or truespin, which you already get a point for)
2 points for a 270 or 360 into a trick
2 points for a 540 into a trick

EXAMPLE:
Soul = 1 point
Topside soul = 2 points
Alleyoop soul = 2 points
Alleyoop topside soul = 3 points
Fullcab (fakie 360) alleyoop topside soul = 4 points
Fullcab alleyoop topside soul 360 out = 5 points
Fullcab truespin topside soul 360 out = 5 points
Another example:
Unity grind = 1 point
Backide unity = 2 points
Alleyoop unity = 2 points
Backide alleyoop unity = 3
Backside alleyoop unity 450 out (to fakie or forwards) = 5 points

SWITCH UPS:
If you want to do a switchup you can, and score points for both grinds. The switch up must happen somewhere near the middle of the box and the whole trick must still slide the length of the box.
Grabbing one footed tricks won’t give you any extra points but will earn you more street cred.

EXAMPLE:
Fakie 270 frontside shifty to alleyoop topside acid, 360 out = 2+3+1 = 6 points
If there’s a tie, the skaters in contention get three goes. The winner is the person with the highest score after three goes.

Don’t forget George Lane Bar for after party where the winners will be announced. Located in a private room with its own bar and skate videos on the projector. CJ Wellsmore in the SEBA Street Summer Tour Episode #1: FISE World Montpellier

Seba Summer Tour Fise

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_image src=”http://www.rollerblading.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/fiseseba.jpg” image_width=”800″ image_height=”450″ crop=”true” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” target=”_self” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”left” margin_bottom=”25″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]The SEBA Street team recently converged on Montpellier in France for the annual FISE World extravaganza.

Anthony Finocchiaro was there to capture CJ Wellsmore, Manon Derrien, Pierre Lelièvre, Antony Pottier and Pascal Morasse-Raymond’s adventures at the first stop of the SEBA Street Summer Tour at France’s biggest action sports event.

Here is what Pascal had to say:

“For a Inline skaters, there’s isn’t much that can beat touring a country with some of the best skaters in the world, skating some of the best parks of Europe. “Luckily, I have the great opportunity to do just that. I landed in Paris on the 13th of may and met with CJ Wellsmore and Anthony Finocchiaro. A few minutes later we were heading for a 7 hours trip to Montpellier to participate in the FISE.

“Montpellier is a very charming city and during the FISE it’s also host of one of the biggest party I’ve seen in my life. The second day we we’re joined by Manon Derrien, Pierre Lelièvre and Antony Pottier to complete the lineup for the tour. I had the chance to be commenting on the live stream for all the rollerblading events during the festivities. It’s a great experience to be part of such a massive event.

“CJ Wellsmore managed to get 4th place during the park contest followed by Pottier in 5th. After those 4 days of intense partying and skating, we took a rest at Hadrien Bastouil’s place on the last night and headed to Marseille the next morning.”

Stay tuned for Episode #2!
